This Nauticat 33 Mk II is a particularly well-cared-for example of these highly respected Finnish motorsailers and presents as a genuine cruising yacht that has benefitted from extensive investment by her current owner. Renowned for their solid build quality, comfortable accommodation and excellent sea-keeping abilities, the Nauticat 33 remains one of the most sought-after deck saloon cruising yachts of her era, offering a superb balance between sailing performance and comfortable passagemaking under power.
Stepping aboard, it is immediately apparent that this yacht has been continually upgraded and maintained rather than simply used and stored. The deck layout is practical and secure, with the addition of a bespoke new bimini in 2025, comfortable aft deck seating with cushions, twin deck loungers, stainless steel davits, upgraded boarding arrangements and a bow thruster, making handling in marinas considerably easier. Ground tackle has also been substantially upgraded, including a new electric anchor windlass, 50 metres of chain, Delta anchor and Fortress kedge anchor, giving confidence when cruising and anchoring away from marinas.
Below decks, the classic Nauticat interior provides warm, traditional accommodation with excellent headroom and visibility from the deck saloon. The six-berth layout is ideal for extended cruising or family use, with two heads compartments and a practical galley arrangement. Recent improvements include new vinyl flooring throughout the cabins, upgraded refrigeration with Alpicool fridge and fridge/freezer units, refurbished sanitation systems, upgraded holding tank equipment and a new Eberspacher D3 heating system fitted in 2026, ensuring comfortable year-round cruising in Scottish waters and beyond.
Mechanically, the venerable Ford Lehman 80hp diesel has earned an enviable reputation for reliability and longevity. This example has benefited from ongoing maintenance including engine servicing in July 2025, refurbishment of the fuel injection pump and injectors, a new stainless-steel prop shaft, flexi-coupling, Volvo deep sea seal and cutlass bearing. Additional upgrades such as fuel polishing equipment, Victron charging systems, solar panels and upgraded batteries contribute to a highly capable and self-sufficient cruising package.
The sailing inventory is equally impressive. The ketch rig benefits from stainless steel standing rigging renewed in 2019, replacement running rigging, a new boom and spinnaker pole, serviced mainsail, Selden Batcar system, a newer Yankee genoa and a cruising chute on a top-down furler. These improvements provide a versatile and manageable sail plan suitable for both coastal cruising and longer passages.
Navigation equipment is comprehensive and well suited to modern cruising, featuring dual chartplotters, autopilot systems, AIS receiver, VHF DSC communications, depth, speed and log instrumentation, together with a WiFi booster and numerous additional navigational aids. Safety equipment is also extensive, including liferaft, EPIRB, lifejackets, harnesses, gas and carbon monoxide detection systems and both manual and electric bilge pumps.
Overall, this is a very honest and extensively upgraded Nauticat 33 Mk II which combines classic Scandinavian craftsmanship with significant modernisation. She appears well prepared for immediate cruising and would be an excellent choice for anyone seeking a capable and comfortable long-distance cruising yacht or a dependable liveaboard cruiser. Early viewing is highly recommended as examples presented to this standard rarely come to market.
