The new Powerboat P1 Superstock race season in the UK kicked off with the first round in Bournemouth at the weekend. A fleet of 10 P1 Panther powerboats took to the water close to its famous pier in the UK SuperStock in the Bournemouth Grand Prix of the Sea.

Hull Speed Ahead is being funded with sponsorship from Hull’s Business Community, including Boatshed Yorkshire, and will be promoting 2017 City of Culture. They’re also racing with a Hull based crew, with Hull being unique in providing a home-grown crew for the boat which bears the City’s name.

The boys behind the wheel for HullSpeedAhead couldn’t wait to get back in the boat, Navigator Gavin Feldt commented "We have been in the water at any given opportunity since we got back from London, and it is really showing, our times are getting faster and turns getting tighter. We cannot wait to get into the water, line up against the other boats and do Hull proud."

Coverage of the Bournemouth race action is scheduled to be screened on Sky Sports in early July. The 30-race UK series moves on from the Dorset coast to Hull (21/22 June), Cardiff and Torquay before Gosport hosts the season finale in September.
